Jesus is Eternal

Jesus Christ is eternal in His existence
.

Micah 5:1-2 (NIV) Marshal your troops, O city of troops, for a siege is laid against us. They will strike Israel's ruler on the cheek with a rod. 2 "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times."

John 1:1 (NIV) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 8:58 (NIV) "I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!"
Ephesians 1:3-14 (NIV) Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will-- 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace 8 that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. 9 And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment--to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ. 11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. 13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory.
Colossians 1:15-19 (NIV) He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him,
Revelation 1:18 (NIV) I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

Matthew 3:16 (NIV) As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him.
John 3:34 (NIV) For the one whom

The Shofar

BLOW THE TRUMPET
A SPIRITUAL WEAPON WITH REVIVAL POWER

SHOFAR - Hebrew for a trumpet made from a ram’s horn.

We believe that God has given us a revelation that we wish to share with the Body of Messiah. We believe this will add a new dimension to your intercessory prayer and spiritual warfare. The Lord has revealed the spiritual dynamic of the use of the SHOFAR or Ram’s Horn as used by the Israelites in the Old Testament times. We liken it to the dynamic of fasting, we don’t fully under- stand the power of it, why or how it works - but ......IT WORKS !

Anywhere in the Old Testament where it is translated trumpet, the Hebrew word is SHOFAR. The Lord led us to the story of Gideon (Judges 7) - how He sent Gideon’s 300 to do battle with a heavily armed enemy that numbered many thousands. However, He instructed Gideon to go out with a pitcher and torch in one hand, and a SHOFAR in the other hand. At the appointed time, the 300 blew their SHOFARS in unity, which firstly caused a restlesness in the enemies camp, resulting in their total confusion to the point of them turning on each other and killing each other with their swords. We also see in the story of Joshua that he too, won the war by blowing the SHOFAR. The Holy Spirit revealed that in the spirit realm, blowing the SHOFAR brings about the same effect. Over our meetings, over our buildings and over our cities, there is opposition in the heavenlies. We believe that blowing the SHOFAR during prayer, intercession and worship times causes disturbance and confusion to the spirit realm above us, thus dispersing the opposition and bringing about an open heaven for the glory, power and presence of God to fall.

We have seen dramatic changes and fruit from the blowing of the SHOFAR during our intercession and during our worship times. We do not use this tool as a religious rite but purely as the Spirit leads. We are also aware of many churches around the world beginning to include the use of the SHOFAR, the Pensacola AOG being a prime example. SHOFAR sales in the USA Christian sphere have risen by 70% in the last year. We also have testimonies of people blowing the SHOFAR in their homes during prayer times, also seeing breakthrough and victory as a result.

We believe that the Lord is in the process of restoring to His people, all of the truths that have been stolen by the devil over the last 2000 years. If the devil made a point of taking it, then we can be sure there is power in it - he doesn’t bother with trivialities ! We have in the SHOFAR, a powerful tool for our worship & a powerful weapon for our spiritual warfare.

In the Bible, the blowing of the SHOFAR was first heard when God called Moses to the summit of Mt. Sinai to receive the tablets of the Law. And, it will be sounded at the end of days to announce the Return of the Messiah and the Rapture of His Bride. ( 1 Thess 4:16 )

SCRIPTUAL SIGNIFICANCE FOR BLOWING OF THE SHOFAR

God Himself blows it! - Zech. 9:14 "Then the Lord will appear over them, and His arrow will go forth like lightning; and the Lord God will blow the SHOFAR, and will march in the storm winds of the south."

Gives commands to angelic hosts - Matt. 24:31 "And He will send forth His angels with a great SHOFAR and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other."

Priestly instrument of praise & worship - Chr. 29:26 "And the Levites stood with the musical instruments of David, and the priests with the SHOFARS." 2 Chr. 29:28 ". While the whole assembly worshipped, the singers also sang and the SHOFARS sounded; all this continued until the burnt offering was finished." Ps. 150:3 "Praise Him with the SHOFAR sound; praise Him with harp and lyre." Ps. 98:6 "With SHOFARS and the sound of the horn shout joyfully before the King, the Lord." 2 Sam. 6:15 "So David and all the house of Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouting and the sound of the SHOFAR." Is. 27:13 "It will come about also in that day that a great SHOFAR will be blown; and those who were perishing and scattered will come and worship the Lord in the holy mountain..."

A powerful catalyst to bring the glory of God - 2 Chr. 5:13 "in unison when the SHOFARERS and the singers were to make themselves heard with one voice to praise and to glorify the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice accompanied by SHOFARS and cymbals and instruments of music, and when they praised the Lord saying, 'He indeed is good for His lovingkindness is everlasting,' then the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud...' "

Instrument used during great celebration - 1 Chr. 13:8 "And David and all Israel were celebrating before God with all their might, even with songs and with lyres, harps, tambourines, cymbals, and with SHOFARS."

Essential in going to War - Num. 10:9 "And when you

Teh Shallit

Biblical commandment
The Bible does not command wearing of a unique prayer shawl or tallit. Instead, it presumes that people wore a garment of some type to cover themselves and instructs them to add fringes (tzitzit) to the 4 corners of these (Numbers 15:38, Deuteronomy 22:12). These passages do not specify tying particular types or numbers of knots in the fringes. Nor do they specify a gender division between men and women, or between native Israelite/Hebrew people and those assimilated by them. The exact customs regarding the tying of the tzitzit and the format of the tallit are post-Biblical and rabbinical and can vary between various Jewish communities.
Encyclopaedia Judaica, describes the prayer shawl as "a rectangular mantle that looked like a blanket and was worn by men in ancient times". Also, it "is usually white and made either of wool, cotton, or silk".[5]
The tallit can be made of any materials except a mixture of wool and linen. Usually, the mixture of wool and linen - a combination known as shatnez - is specifically forbidden by the Torah. In the case of Talit however, this is a Rabbinic prohibition, because biblically, the mixture might be allowed for a Talit during the daytime (however at nighttime there would be a transgression on behalf of the wearer).[6] Most traditional tallitot are made of wool.
According to the biblical commandment, a blue (Hebrew תכלת, tekhelet, tək·ā'·leth) thread (Hebrew פתיל "pəthiyl") known as "tekhelet" itself, is included in the tzitzit.[7][8]

A tallit (Hebrew: טַלִּית‎‎) (talet[1] in Sephardic Hebrew and Ladino) (tallis,[2] in Ashkenazic Hebrew and Yiddish) pl. tallitot (talleisim,[3] tallism,[4] in Ashkenazic Hebrew and Yiddish) is a Jewish prayer shawl. The tallit is worn over the outer clothes during the morning prayers (Shacharit) on weekdays, Shabbat and holidays. The tallit has special twined and knotted fringes known as tzitzit attached to its four corners. Most traditional tallitot are made of wool. Tallitot are often given as gifts to children on their Bar Mitzvahs. In orthodox circles, a Tallit is customarily presented to a groom before marriage as part of the dowry.

Keeping the Sabbath

Exodus 16:23  He said to them, the Lord has said, Tomorrow is a solemn rest, a Holy Sabbath to the Lord, bake and boil what you will bake and boil today, and all that remains over put aside till morning.

Leviticus 20:30 You sahll keep my Sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary, I am the Lord.

Deuteronomy 5:12 Observe the Sabbath day to keep it holy, as the Lord you God commanded you.

Isaiah 56 :2 Blessed, happy and fortunate is the man who does this, and the son of the man who lays hold of it and binds himself fast to it, who keeps sacred the Sabbath so as not to profane it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil!

Matthew 12:

And at that time Jesus went through the fields of standing grain  on the Sabbath: and His disciples were hungry, and they began to pick off the spikes of grain and to eat (Deut 23:25)
And when the Pharisees saw it they said to Him, See there! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful and are not permitted to do on the Sabbath.
He said to them, Have you not even read what David did when he was hungry , and those who accompanied him (Lev 24:(; 1Sam 21:1-6)
How he went into the house of God and ate the loaves of the showbread, which was not lawful for himto eat, nor for the men who accompanied him, but for the priests only?

Or have you never read in the Law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple violate the sanctity of the Sabbath (breaking it) and yet are guiltless? (nim 28;9-10)

But I tell you,  Something greater and more exalted and more majestic than the ntemple is here!
And if you had only known what this saying means, I desire mercy (readiness to help, to spare, to forgive) rather than sacrifice and sacrificial victims, you would not have condemned the guiltless. (Hos 6:6; Matt. 9:13)

For the Son of Man is Lord (even) of the Sabbath. He went on to the the synagogue where He healed the man with the withered hand, and told them "So it is lawful and allowable to do good on the Sabbath days.  "

Jealous/Zealous

Jealousy of God

The doctrine that God is a jealous God comes from the Old Testament books of the law of Moses. The "jealousy" is always in the context of idol worship, beginning in the Ten Commandments of Exodus 20.
  • "You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, (Exodus 20:5)
  • for you shall not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God-- (Exodus 34:14)
  • "For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. (Deuteronomy 4:24)
  • 'You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, (Deuteronomy 5:9)
  • for the LORD your God in the midst of you is a jealous God; otherwise the anger of the LORD your God will be kindled against you, and He will wipe you off, the face of the earth. (Deuteronomy 6:15)
What these five verses have in common is that they all share the same Hebrew adjective, qannâ' qanna (Strong's H7067) (Strong's H7067),5 translated with the English word "jealous." The interesting thing about this word is that it is only used in reference to God. In no instance is the word qannâ' used to describe human jealousy. The reason that God is "jealous" is because He wants people to choose to love Him.6 Jesus said that the most important commandment was to love God.7 God does not want us to waste out time worshipping pretend gods that do not exist.8

Human jealousy

Whereas God's "jealousy" is primarily restricted to a jealousy over the worship of idols that competes with His love to prevent a dedicated relationship with Him, jealousy between people takes on quite a number of forms. Two different Hebrew words are used to describe human jealousy. The Hebrew verb qânâ' (Strong's H7065)9 refers to a passionate jealousy or envy.10 The Hebrew noun qin'âh (Strong's H7068)11 takes on a wide range of meanings from sexual passion (or jealousy) to a zeal for God to anger or envy.12 The exact meaning (and the English translation is usually determined from the context.

Human vs. godly jealousy

The differences between the words describing human vs. godly jealousy are profound. For example, the jealousy that keeps one out of heaven is defined as "an envious and contentious rivalry, jealousy" (Thayer's Greek Dictionary). God does not envy an human being or anything that any human being possesses. God has no rivals. The apostle Paul indicates that there is a godly form of jealousy.13 The main reason why atheists think that God should not be jealous is that, as an English word, "jealousy" has virtually universal negative connotations. In the original languages in which the Bible is written, Hebrew and Greek, the words translated as "jealousy" in English do not always have negative connotations. In fact, the Greek word often translated "jealous" is zēlos, from which we get the English word "zealous," referring more to zeal and ardor rather than jealousy.

Conclusion Top of page

Is God a Moral Monster?Jealousy is often thought of as being a negative trait. So, many people think that the Bible's description of God as jealous means that He must be a divine hypocrite. However, this page has shown that in the original languages in which the Bible is written, the words do not have those negative definitions. Since the word used to describe the jealousy of God is not even the same word used to describe human jealousy, it is clear that the apparent contradiction is just a result of an inability of the translated language (English) to accurately reflect the original language (Hebrew). There is no slight on the character of God in the original language.

God's Jealousy in the Bible

2.1. In creation

The very first four words of the bible clearly establish its focus:
In the beginning, God [...]
— Genesis 1:1

Although the bible has lots to say about people and the human condition, it is first and last a book about God himself.

2.2. In the Law

The first of the familiar ten commandments is God's demand to be first in the hearts of his people:
God spoke all these words: ``I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God.''
 Exodus 20:1-5

2.3. In the Kings

The history of Israel and Judah (the books of Joshua, Judges, 1 and 2 Samuel, 1 and 2 Kings, 1 and 2 Chronicles, Ezra and Nehemiah) is full of episodes in which God's people turn away from him - sometimes to follow other gods, sometimes just because they are comfortable and self-satisfied. Each time we see God call them back to himself through a prophet, often in dramatic circumstances.
In 1 Kings 18, the prophet Elijah spells out the issue with devastating clarity:
Elijah went before the people and said, ``How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.''
— 1 Kings 18:21

The point here is that the Israelites at the time of this story had not completely deserted God. They still worshipped him, but they also worshipped Baal. That half-commitment was not good enough for God, who demanded all or nothing - just as later God's message to the Laodicean church was ``Because you are lukewarm - neither hot nor cold- I am about to spit you out of my mouth.'' (Revelation 3:16)

2.4. In the Psalms

The Psalms are about many things, but the main recurring theme is a awe of and desire for God himself:
I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
[...]
You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
— Psalm 16:8, 11

No wonder God calls David, the author of this Psalm, ``a man after my own heart'' (Acts 13:22, after 1 Samuel 13:14)

2.5. In the Prophets

This kind of message is not uncommon in the prophets:
This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Before your eyes and in your days I will bring an end to the sounds of joy and gladness and to the voices of bride and bridegroom in this place. When you tell these people all this and they ask you, ``Why has the LORD decreed such a great disaster against us? What wrong have we done? What sin have we committed against the LORD our God?'' then say to them, ``It is because your fathers forsook me,'' declares the LORD, ``and followed other gods and served and worshiped them. They forsook me.''
— Jeremiah 16:9-11

2.6. In the Gospels

We've already listed some of the  claims Jesus made about himself, and how he was quite unashamed about drawing attention and even worship to himself. This example is one of the clearest:
On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, ``If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.''
— John 7:37-39

Again, notice that while Jesus said lots of things about lots of subjects (money, military service, divorce, morality), the heart of his message is always himself.

2.7. In the Letters

Consider Paul's classic confession:
I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ
— Philippians 3:8

This from someone who's done more to serve Christ than pretty much anyone else we can think of: ``Beaten with rods [...] stoned [...] three times shipwrecked [...] laboured and toiled and often gone without sleep'' (2 Corinthians 11:25-27). All of that he considers worthless compared with the simple thing that is knowing Christ. In other words, his relationship with God is more important to him than what he does as a result of it.

2.8. In Revelation

This from the letter to Ephesus, one of the seven letters to churches from the early chapters of the book of Revelation:
I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. [...] You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.
— Revelation 2:2-5

No amount of hard work - even if it's genuinely done ``for God's name'' - is an acceptable substitute for God himself being central. As soon as we allow the church to become more important to us than he is, we're off the path. The threat is a very serious one: by ``remove your lampstand from its place'', God seems to be threatening that he will close the church down. Why? Because if he is not at the centre of it, then it's not really a church anyway.

2.9. At the end of the world

And so we come to the end of the bible.
[The angel] carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. [...] I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.
— Revelation 21:10, 22-23

And in the very last chapter of the bible:
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
— Revelation 22:13

3. ConclusionIs God just an ego-maniac? Does he need our attention? Hardly.

He knows two things that we find hard to see and constantly forget even after we've seen them. First of all, he is central - he just is! It's just true! So God's wanting us to make him central in our lives is nothing more than requiring that our lives reflect absolute truth. Second, God knows that the best possible thing for us is to be absolutely taken up and obsessed with him. He knows that he's the ultimate source of all our joy and comfort, and wants us to come to the source.

4. Application

There is a hard question for us to ask ourselves at this point. We are all aware that, despite all the good things about our lives they are not as they should be. Could it be that God is not blessing us as we'd wish because our affection is fixed elsewhere? On sport or some other recreation? On our jobs or our families? Or even on the church? Are we like the Israelites in Elijah's time trying to divide our worship between two gods? Or like the Ephesian church that seems to be doing everything right but has lost its first love? If it's true, then the remedy is simple: ``Repent and do the things you did at first'' (Revelation 2:5)

and never forget  Exodus 34:14  -- our God is a jealous God! Longing for you with a zealous longing!

Kiss Me with the kisses of your lips

Psalm 2:12   Kiss the Son (pay homage to Him in purity) lest He be angry and you perish in the way , for soon shall His wrath be kindled. O blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied) are all those who seek refuge and put their trust in them.

Song of Solomon 7:9 And your kisses like the best wine (then the Shulammite interupted) that goes down smoothly and sweetly for my beloved (shepherd, kisses) gliding over his lips while he sleeps. She proudly said I am my beloved's and his desire is toward me (John 10:28).

Prov 27:6  Faith ful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are lavish and deceitful.

Luke 7:38 And standing behind Him at His feet weeping, she began to wet His feet with her tears; she wiped them with the hair of her head, and kissedHis feet affectionately and annointed them with perfume.

Romans 16:16 Greet each other with a holy (consecrated) kiss. All the churches of Christ (the Messiah) wish to be remembered to you.

1Peter 5:14 Salute one another with a kiss of love (the sign of mutual affection) To all of you that are in Christ Jesus may there be peace (every kind of peace, and blessing, especially peace from God and freedom from fears, agitating passions, and moral conflicts).

Let no kiss be on these lips or from these lips but that designed by you Lord!

Amen
